Third time using them for service on my boat but I will not return. Took my boat in for basic service, oil change, coolant flush, change impeller, service lower unit, check fluids and trailer. After 30 days of the boat being there they left a message and said the boat was ready. I called right back and said I was on my way. When I called back I was then informed that they didn't change the impeller and it would be 8-10 hours at $95 a hour plus parts to change the impeller. Seemed high so I called another place and was quoted 2.5 hours of labor plus parts. Called Trotter back and their answer was that I should probably take it there cause they must be more familiar with servicing them. It would have been nice to know that 30 days ago that trotter marine is not familiar with servicing my type boat. They serviced the boat last year for a reasonable price and I had no issues, so I felt I would be taken care of this year with similar customer service and price. Turns out they have a different mechanic then they had last year. I Felt like the bill was a little high compared to the previous year but did not bring it up when I was there because I couldn't remember exactly what I paid before and I had to be at work. When I got home I found my bill from last year, I was charged $500 more this year for the same type service. The only thing they did different this year was coolant flush and service the lower unit. I Feel like I was overcharged. I have a mercruiser 496 I/o motor. I would take your boat somewhere else.
