It had been working since 1830 There is a Canal side walk past Leewood pumping Station which has an original beam engine that pumped water from the river Derwent into the Cromford canal. Pre covid, it was possible to go inside and see it working,as at Middleton Top winding house. Now powered by compressed air, you can see how the engineers built grand machines to drive industry. The disused High Peak railway track is now a popular path for waking and cyclists.
