These people are ripping my dad off. He supplied them two engines and asked them to make one good one. He paid them $1750.00 to accomplish this. After receiving the engine, it ran for about 5 minutes. When he pulled the valve cover, he found both bolts loose on the cam sprockets and the cam bearing caps on incorrectly. Not only that, the bolts were loose on the water pump access cover.
My pops is a talented mechanic who didn’t have time for this repair to help out his stepson (who is a new father and in need of a reliable car) due to his own job working on aircraft. Now, because these guys “have no warranty, written or implied” he has to redo what he paid to have done right the first time Unacceptable!!
The parts were overpriced to begin with and now we find that pops could have bought an engine with a warranty for half the cost, the insult is even worse.
I am honestly not sure what mechanic shop has no warranty on workmanship - that’s a new one to me.
What’s even more shameful to me as an A&P mechanic myself is the lack of cooperation, accountability and fairness in light of such sloppy mistakes. I’m ashamed that these guys call themselves gear heads but maybe that is slang for we slap it together and throw it out the door
Sadly, I would think that with a 5 star rating, they would make things right instead of leaving my pops hanging when all he was doing was trying to help out his stepson.
I understand mistakes are made but how they are corrected makes the difference between a good company and a bad one.
