It's all about the rolls here. An imaginative sushi chef with a menu the size of a Tolstoy novel are all you need in this six-table establishment. I've been coming here when I'm in town for seventeen years, and it's always a highlight of our time in Phoenix.
A traditionalist may scoff at the menu as Japanese food is often merely high-quality ingredients treated well and simply, but Saki puts the "chef" in sushi chef, giving a variety of flavors and sauces in combinations that are wonderful and occasionally downright adventurous. See the "Temari Ball" which is spicy tuna sculpted into a perfect sphere of avocado with a sweet sauce spiraled within a wasabi sauce and sprinkled with candied fish flakes. This is not you usual strip mall fare.
