Let me begin by saying the food was pretty good for bar/tavern food, otherwise the experience was not good. Was told by the hostess we could not sit outside (party of 5) unless we sat at the picnic tables on the sidewalk because there wasn't a table available on the patio. There was a 4 top we could have easily pulled a chair up to.
We ordered and food and nonalcoholic beverages arrived pretty quickly. The alcoholic beverages arrived well after the food, were served frozen but had large chunks of ice in them. Also served in flimsy plastic cup so they melted very fast and did not taste good at all.
At no point were we told gratuity was added to the bill. Our bill was rang up on a hand held at table side. We automatically hit the 30% button. When the bill arrived by text, we saw that 18% has already been added for the tip. Restaurant staff work very hard and deserve to be tipped well. However, not telling someone gratuity is already on the bill is inappropriate. I understand that some customers do not tip and automatic gratuity is added to ensure proper compensation, but it's very dishonest not to tell patrons about tipping being included. Our overall experience in Helen had been very positive up until visiting this establishment. There are way more places to eat in town . I would not recommend visiting Two Tire Tavern.
