I bought another car and brought it in to be safety checked all over. Left it there for a few hours and picked it back up with some minor part replacements and the all clear. The next day the car started to make a grinding noise on the passenger side.
I brought it back in to be checked out...they said they couldn't find anything and send me off. The grinding increased so I brought it back a 3rd time... They said it must be the clutch and referred me to another garage (£900 repair)..The car had a new clutch less than 10 months ago, so that didn't sound plausible. The gentleman who drove it around to do the diagnostics said his car makes similar sounds and has done for two years, so just put the volume up on the radio. It still didn't sit right with me, so I brought it to another garage for a second opinion. They thought it was the steering rack so I booked it in for a steering rack repair. As they prepared for the steering rack repair they noticed the passenger wheel bolts had come loose...nearly entirely..they didn't need tools to get the bolts off. The grinding sound of the car was the wheel dwindling around.
The 'safety check' didn't include making sure the wheel bolts where done up properly...ALL 3 TIMES! If I had taken it on the motor way I would have been dead by now. Don't bring your car in for repairs if you like to live a little longer...
