I went to Emerson Barber Shop on the recommendation of my close friend. Pat was cutting a customers hair when I arrived and there was one person waiting, so I did have to wait, but only about twenty minutes or so. Two people came in while Pat was cutting my hair, both seemed to be regulars based on their interaction with Pat. She kept apologizing for the wait. It was the first day of school at nearby McMaster so that seemed to be the source of the busier than normal day for her (but hey, its extra income for her and maybe even new customers).
Pat did an excellent job cutting my hair. I used to go to Crows Nest Barbershop, which many consider the best barbershop in the city (I only went because a former bandmate of mine was a barber there and he would give me a deal sometimes), but Pats fade is way better, cleaner, and faster than any fade I got there. Pat also charges less (current rate is $26 for a cut), and willingly carries on a conversation. The conversation might be a bit one-sided but that is just because I dont say a lot. I enjoyed listening to her talk.
It is true that she didnt cut my hair exactly how I had envisioned, but I put that down to not explaining what I wanted well enough. That being said, my hair looked the best it has ever looked after Pat cut. I highly recommend going to Pat for a trim.
*It is walk in only, like the barbershops of old.
