I frequently go to the beach house for breakfast. While I really like the ambience of the cafe, the staff don’t take initiative and we often have to ask for water and menus. I most recently asked if I can just order a few sides for breakfast rather than the toast which they said was fine. I order two poached eggs and a side of avocado which would have totalled a maximum of $12. The menu states eggs are $3 each and avocado is usually $5. When I paid they told me that I have to be charged for eggs on toast because you can’t just order a side. I mentioned that it didn’t say this on the menu and that I had ordered sides only. I wouldn’t have ordered it if I knew I was going to be charged for a full meal that I didn’t even eat. I was charged the full amount plus a card surcharge. I ended up paying $13 for two eggs that I expected to pay $6 for. My meal totalled $18 for two eggs and half of an avocado. I was really disappointed because I’ve really liked eating there.
