The Grandfather Tree is beautiful. Great experience, especially with children.
{Bit of a climb if you want to touch the tree itself, but all fun and doable.)
((When walking towards the Grandfather Tree, just before you reach it, youll come across a small opening with a wooden deck set up, right beside the creak. Its a great place to stop at before the Tree, either to sit and relax and simply gaze at the relaxing water for a short moment-- orrrr, if youre anything like my family, its the perfect spot to cool off from the hot sun. ))
Highly suggest going for this walk. It took us about 15-20 minutes from the parking lot in Cochrane beside Highway 1A, [or Bowvalley Trail Highway, or whatever its called], to walk to the Grandfather Tree!
**Just remember to bring water and maybe prep with bug spray, though that surprisingly was Not a problem for us during our visit. ALSO, maybe a tiny med kit of some sort, in case you trip over some tree roots or something.**
([Side Note: In case it matters to any of you, I am Always seeing people biking through this trail. Not sure how they do it, as there are some questionable places to bike through, but it must be possible because there is always a bike or two coming through here when I visit.])
