We booked to dine with Rocksalt for a romantic date night. We went to the bar first which was amazing! Outstanding cocktails and incredibly attentive staff. We then went downstairs for dinner, staff were friendly and helpful. The setting is absolutely stunning! We both were very excited for our meal at this point and decided that all the rumours were untrue and glad we had tried it for ourselves … that was until the food arrived.Starters were basic, not unpleasant, we just had higher expectations as a reflection of the price point. The mains then arrived, my partner was struggling to enjoy his sea bass, when the restaurant manager arrived to check on us. He explained that the food tasted slightly mushy, to which she understood and blamed it on the fact that the fish was too fresh. She did a brilliant job and offered my partner another dish of the cod. Which he accepted and they took both our plates away.Within 5 minutes my partners new plate arrived and my food had been re-plated. We both tried the cod and it’s was incredibly salty, again, it was edible but just didn’t reflect the level of food you’d expect from a high end restaurant charging high end prices.I could not fault the service from the get go. Incredibly attentive service. I’m sad that the food let down such a beautiful restaurant.
