We went here because they were dog friendly and hungry and should have investigated further, because plenty of places were dog friendly. With no obvious vegan options, we decided to attempt to keep things simple and just ordered tomato and onion toasties, with a side of fries. This was going to be ‘no problem’ The toasties were tasteless and just basically finely chopped onion and tomato. The chips were frozen, but a large portion. The toasties were £6.50 per sandwich, an absolute rip-off for cheap pan bread and a tiny amount of tasteless filling. What would be wrong with a bit of Sourdough bread, I would have happily paid £6.50 for some sourdough and salad veg, but what they served was abysmal. One table next to ours had two different sets of customers leave in rapid succession, because there’s no breakfast served after noon, it was 12:20, but then the next table of customers left within 5 minutes, because there was also no soup. We had also asked for soup and were told it wasn’t ready yet. I worked in the industry and literally, it’s something you prep the night before and takes 2 minutes to stick on the next day, it makes itself, beyond perhaps a bit of blending. Terrible customer experience and either laziness, disorganisation or just exploitation of tourists and none of those are good in a service environment. It should be renamed Bad Taste of the Trossachs. It’s apparently a famous pie shop, I won’t be back and couldn’t recommend it to anyone. It could be a smashing wee place, but it’s not.
